Manton Remote Students

This month we must have One 2-way communication each week during October 7-November 3!

Parents and guardians must respond in a timely manner and address specifically the liaison's questions that are being asked. Questions need to be subject-specific, and they can not be repeated in weeks back to back.

All conversations must be directly related to your child's education. Technical questions and concerns do not qualify for 2-way communication.

The Administration will be notified if we are not able to connect with you each week. The Administration will then contact you to set-up a meeting about the lack of communication.

Bully Prevention Month - Random Acts of Kindness

Lots of children are genuinely warm and caring, and find it easy to empathize with others – perhaps teaching us adults a lesson. If your child wants to make a difference, why not suggest they try some of these random acts of kindness? There’s no guarantee of getting anything in return, but it always helps us feel good about ourselves when we do something nice for someone else

In school you can: Hold the door open for your teacher, help a friend who’s stuck on their classwork, clean up a mess you didn’t make, or tell someone a joke to cheer them up if they’re feeling sad.

At home you can: Clear the table after dinner without being asked, bake a cake or cookies, send a letter to your Grandma or Grandpa, read your little brother or sister a bedtime story, or feed your pet or clean out their cage without having to be told.

There are lots of different ways to show Kindness towards others. What can you do today, to show kindness to someone?

Manton Elementary Halloween Guidelines

Halloween is on a Friday, October 30th this year

  • Students must continue to wear a face mask that covers their mouth and nose while in high populated areas. Wearing a costume mask is NOT a substitute for masks.
  • Do not wear a costume mask over a cloth mask (this may cause difficulties in breathing)
  • ALL snacks must be store-bought and individually-packaged. Cupcakes, cookies, etc. in one package are NOT allowed.
  • No scary masks i.e., "scream mask," "bloody masks," etc. (school appropriate)
  • No weapons (fake or real) of any kind
  • No fake blood, guts, etc.
  • All should be school appropriate

Health Department Halloween Guidelines

Tips for trick-or-treaters and parents:

  • Share with your children that this year may be different than last but let them know some of the new ways you plan to celebrate and still have lots of fun.
  • Talk with children about safety and social distancing guidelines and expectations. Keep a six-foot distance from others, not in your group.
  • Participate in one-way trick-or-treating and guide children to stay to the right to ensure social distancing.
  • Trick or treat with people you live with.
  • Avoid congregating in groups around houses.
  • Wear a face mask covering both mouth and nose.
    • A costume mask (such as for Halloween) is not a substitute for a cloth mask.
    • Do not wear a costume mask over a protective cloth mask if wearing both causes difficulty breathing. Instead, consider using a Halloween-themed cloth mask.
  • Only go to houses with safety measures in place.
  • Check out halloween2020.org to find exciting activities and ways to celebrate Halloween this year based on levels of COVID risks in your area.

Tips for homeowners:

  • Use duct tape to mark six-foot lines in front of home and leading to driveway/front door.
  • Position a distribution table between yourself and trick-or-treaters.
  • Distribute candy on a disinfected table to eliminate direct contact.
  • Consider handing out candy in an open space where distancing is possible, rather than from the front door.
  • Consider a neighborhood costume parade; it is an easy way to keep safe space between children.
