WELCOME TO 6TH GRADE! We are so happy to start school and teach your sixth grader this year! Below you will find a “top ten” list of 6th grade announcements and information to make your child’s 1st day as smooth as possible. 1) Sixth graders each have an assigned locker. These lockers do NOT have a combination- just like in 5th grade. If students bring a phone, MP3 player, or other gadget of importance to school and would like it to stay in a locked place during the day they can give these to their homeroom teacher. We will have a special place to store these items in each of our rooms. Students will only be accessing lockers at the beginning of the day, before and after lunch, and at the end of the day this year. 2) Friday Folders will go home each Friday. Inside you’ll find a 6th grade newsletter as well as graded papers. Parents, it isn’t necessary for you to sign this folder, but we certainly hope that you’ll take the time to go through the contents. Friday Folders need to be returned each Monday so we can get them ready for the week. 3) All school forms were mailed home this year. Please return them to school as soon as possible! 4) New this year … all students will be wearing face masks while in the building. We are distributing two black face masks to each sixth grader on the first day of school. Please help your child keep track of these and wash the face mask that was worn at school for the day so your child will always start each day with a clean face mask. Students who forget a face mask at home will be given a disposable face mask for the day. 5) All students can have a FREE LUNCH this year. Teachers will take lunch orders in the classroom each morning and those lunches will be delivered to each classroom at lunch. We also have FREE BREAKFAST each day which will be delivered to classes just like in 5th grade. 6th grade recess is scheduled from 11:25 - 11:45 and lunch from 11:50 - 12:20. 6) Please sign up for REMIND. This is an app that allows you to communicate with sixth grade teachers via text. Sign up for an account and enter the code bbe81a to join 6th Grade. Or, sign up for text updates by texting 810-10 with the words "join bbe81a" to get updates from Manton 6th Grade via text message. 7) Chromebooks and chargers will be issued the first day of school. Students will need to charge their Chromebook every night, so please keep that charger in a location that helps your student remember to do this. Chromebooks will go home every day- even if there are no Chromebook assignments to complete. Students need to bring the device back to school the following day. 8) Please remember to screen your child’s health each morning. This includes taking your child’s temperature. Students need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. 9) Students need a water bottle this year. These water bottles will be used instead of the drinking fountains in the hall. We do have extra water bottles for students that don’t have one. Each Friday student water bottles will be sent home. Please make sure you wash them before bringing them back to school on Monday. 10) Please call or email if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you this year and hope your child will consider sixth grade one of their TOP TEN years as a Manton Ranger. In fact, maybe even #1! 2 Options for 2020-2021
We know you're getting a lot of information this week, but you're going to want to watch this. If you can't tell, we're *pretty* excited to get back to in-person learning and have thought long and hard about how to do so in the safest way possible. We hope this answers some of your questions AND makes you smile! Whatever it takes, Manton students are worth it! 🖤🧡 https://youtu.be/TahFP93_aa0

This is out informational flyer highlighting our two options this fall. We miss your kids! We LOVE teaching them face-to-face, and we value every opportunity to do so. That said, we understand these are tricky times. We want parents to have multiple options in order to decide what is best for *their* child. If you’re not comfortable sending your child to school in person this fall, please consider our online option. Whatever it takes, Manton students are worth it! 🖤🧡#RANGERPRIDE

Message from Mr. Morrow: This upcoming Thursday, May 7, and Friday May 8, we will be handing out the last educational packets put together for your students. For those students who had belongings here at the school, teachers have bagged and labeled all the materials from the students' lockers and desks. Those belongings will be handed out at the same time of packet pickup. June 2 will serve as the last day to hand in these new packets and a time will be set up to collect any electronic devices. This pickup will be a little different than last time, because we have belongings to distribute. You can drop off your completed packets at this time also. Bus Delivery: If your child has breakfast and lunch delivered to your home, they will receive their packet, lunch, and belongings with that delivery on Friday, May 8. Pick-up: Pick up times will be: Thursday, May 7, from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM or Friday, May 8, from 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM Please Note: The main entrance near central office/middle school will be blocked off to help the flow of traffic. ELEMENTARY PARENTS should enter 5th Street off from Maple Street. This is the same way morning drop offs have occurred. The elementary staff will be there to assist you. You will then continue straight to US 131 to exit. If you also have middle or high school students, you can proceedd to those two pickups by taking a right into the 5th Street gym parking lot to those areas. If you do not have an elementary student, please enter the school complex by turning off from US 131 onto 5th Street as if you were heading to the 5th Street Gym. You will then enter the parking lot by taking a left and proceeding to the middle school and high school. Please keep in mind that on Friday from 10:30 AM - 12:30PM there is lunch pickup also using these lines. If you are not picking up lunch, please try not to pick up the materials during this time, because the wait time will be longer. I know this may be a bit confusing. We will have staff to help assist in directions, and we will post a video on our Facebook pages no later than Tuesday, May 5th, that will demonstrate the different pickups. We hope you are healthy and well. It seems as though some of the stay at home restrictions are lifting soon, and we hope to return things back to as normal as possible when we are allowed. I appreciate all of the hard work the parents and staff have put in to helping the students being as successful as they can during this difficult time. I will send out more information regarding the final packet and electronic device pick up the week of May 25th. We look forward to seeing you next week! Sincerely, Leonard Morrow Manton Consolidated Schools Superimtemdent
